Scientific and Practical Center of Neurophysiological Research

Areas of scientific research:

The main directions of research of Scientific and Practical Center of Neurophysiological Research of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery are optimization of complex treatment and improvement of diagnosis of patients with diseases of the nervous system thanks to the following studies:

  • electroencephalography - method of graphic registration of biopotentials of the brain, which allows analyzing its physiological maturity and condition, the presence of focal lesions, paracerebral disorders and their nature. It consists of registration and analysis of the total bioelectrical activity of the brain. It is used for diagnosis of epilepsy, volume diseases of the brain, craniocerebral injuries, differential diagnostics of epilepsy and non-epileptic paroxysmal conditions;
  • electromyography is a method of peripheral nerve research system by recording the electrical activity of muscles and caused by various stimulating factors of the electrical potentials of muscles and peripheral nerves. It is used in diagnostics of neuritis, polyneuropathy, plexitis, radiculopathy, diseases of neuromuscular transmission (myasthenia), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, salivary amyotrophy;
  • registration of evoked potentials - a method of research of brain functions, visual and auditory analyzers, which allows to carry out registration of responses of nerves and various departments of the central nervous system to stimulation, which makes it possible to judge the state and functional activity of nerve tracts, differentiate the diagnosis, control the effectiveness of treatment of neurological diseases, prognosis of disease development. In response to auditory or visual stimulation in the cerebral cortex are formed the electrical responses that are recorded using special equipment.
